Belek

Truly a remarkable destination for tourists, Belek lies on the shore of the Mediterranean in the midst of its own pine forests. Belek's natural beauty and potential as a resort was discovered in 1984 and the region was proclaimed the "Belek Tourism Centre".

In later years, Belek became what it is today, a Paradise on earth, thanks to cooperation between the Belek Tourism Investors Association and the Tourism Ministry.

The Belek region is in the South of Turkey on the Mediterranean coast and is located only 30 kilometres East of Antalya's main international airport - 25 minutes drive. Recently it was chosen by the Tourism Ministry to be a tourism model not just for today's tourist, but also for the tourist of the new millenium.

The region has 32 four or five-stars hotels and first-class holiday villages. Six golf courses are currently in place including the Nick Faldo 27-hole “signature” course and many more are either in development now or planned within the next few years. All of the facilities that have been designated “first-class” provide an ideal atmosphere for families and offer many opportunities and services for the pleasure of guests. All the facilities offer floodlit tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, completely equipped health and fitness centers, play areas and many more possibilities. Belek hoteliers are proud that Belek is the new face of Turkish tourism and owning a property in the area gives access to all this.

With a seating capacity of 20000 it remains a fine example of skills in engineering and architecture that existed even then. The galleries, stage decorations and acoustics make it an architectural marvel worth visiting. So well preserved that even today concerts and recitals are held at the Aspendos Theatre during the summer months.

While in Belek you can also visit the City Walls and the Hadrian Gate, which are historical remnants of the rich Roman style. The Antalya museum is a famous archeological museum, which should also be of interest to every visitor. Apart from this, there are the numerous mosques and minarets dotting Antalya, some belonging to the Byzantine era and others having been built by the Seljuks.

One of the main attractions of Belek is its superb golf courses. With as many as 13 Courses within 10 minutes drive, Belek has been particularly developed as an attractive golfing holiday destination. It is one of Turkey’s premier golf centres with world-class 18-hole golf courses for novice and expert to hone their skills. The current golf clubs are gathered into two groups within ten minutes driving distance of each other and there are 3 more Courses in process for completion in the next 12 months. Most of the hotels and leisure resorts are located in between the courses, adding to the tourists’ - and their families' - convenience.

Belek also provides, besides golf, the opportunity for a wide range of adventure sports like windsurfing, waterskiing, sailing, rafting, mountain climbing, and hunting. So if you are a sports enthusiast Belek is just the place for you in Turkey.
